Subject: Facial attendance of BPMs through DARPAN Device.

Key Points:

  • Purpose: To implement an online facial attendance system for Branch Postmasters (BPMs) using DARPAN devices, as desired by the Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications.
  • Pilot: A successful pilot was conducted from 01.06.2025 to 30.06.2025 in 1,151 Branch Offices across 4 Postal Divisions (two each in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra Circles).
  • Solution: The AEBAS (Attendance System) Android App, developed by NIC, will be deployed on DARPAN devices for facial recognition attendance. IPPB will handle installation and updates.

Rollout Schedule (Phased Implementation):

Additional Instructions:

  • Personnel: Each Circle must nominate a Master Trainer (≥ Postal Assistant rank) and a SPOC (≥ PS Group–B rank, preferably AD/APMG). DPS (HQ) will oversee implementation.
  • Coordination: Circles must provide details of nominated personnel within 3 days via a dedicated spreadsheet.
  • Documentation: User manuals, Process Flow Documents (PFDs), and FAQs are available on the DoP Attendance Portal (https://indiapost.attendance.gov.in) and via a shared Google Drive.
  • Subdomains: Priority for rollout is to be given to the 59 Divisions (besides the 4 pilot divisions) that already have registered subdomains.

  1. Preparing master data in specific Excel templates.
  2. Obtaining, activating, or updating a subdomain for the attendance portal.
  3. Adding Branch Office details and geo-fencing data.
  4. Registering and activating GDS employees in the portal.
  5. Coordinating with IPPB to ensure AEBAS and Face RD apps are installed and tested on DARPAN devices before rollout.

Coordinating Bodies: The Directorate, NIC, CEPT, and IPPB are responsible for overarching support, training, API integration for MIS, and pushing the app updates to devices.
