  • Provision of Guardian, Aggress in Minor Accounts, Enabling e-KYC for Joint Savings Accounts, and Extending e-KYC Facility to Branch Post Offices

Subject: Provision of Guardian, Aggress in Minor Accounts, Enabling e-KYC for Joint Savings Accounts, and Extending e-KYC Facility to Branch Post Offices – Regarding.

    Respected Sir/Madam,
I respectfully bring the following points to your kind notice for consideration and necessary action:
    • Guardian e-KYC Access in Minor Accounts
As per SB Order No. 07A/2025 dated 07.07.2025, the e-KYC facility has been introduced for the opening and operation of RD and PPF accounts, which is indeed a commendable step. However, in accounts opened in the name of minors, their parents act as guardians. At present, while attempting to provide e-KYC access to guardians in CBS, certain errors are being encountered. It is requested that these errors be resolved and full e-KYC access be enabled for guardians in minor accounts.

    • e-KYC Opening for Joint Accounts – Error in CBS
While opening Joint Savings Accounts through e-KYC in CBS, errors are being encountered, which delay the account opening process. Resolving this issue will speed up account opening and enhance security.
    • e-KYC Access in Branch Post Offices
BPMs working in rural areas currently do not have the facility to perform e-KYC for deposits and withdrawals. However, many BPMs are already equipped with IPPB Micro ATMs and biometric devices. Therefore, it is requested that:
e-KYC facility be extended to Branch Post Offices, so that rural customers can avail secure and paperless services.
    • Benefits of Making e-KYC Mandatory
    • Reduction in frauds and name-change attempts
    • Enhanced safety of customers’ deposits
    • Reduction in human errors and operational lapses
    • Fewer objections from SBCO
    • Increased usage of IPPB digital services
    • Reduced workload for employees

    In conclusion,
    It is requested that:
    • Guardian e-KYC access be provided in minor accounts,
    • CBS errors in opening joint accounts through e-KYC be rectified, and
    • e-KYC facility be extended to Branch Post Offices.
