📄 Acceptable Documents for Aadhaar Enrolment & Update
📌 Four Main Lists (by Age & Purpose)
- List I: Children below 5 years – HoF-based enrolment mandatory
- List II: Age 5 to below 18 years – HoF encouraged, document-based allowed
- List III: Age 18 and above – Standard document-based enrolment
- List IV: Update Aadhaar (any age) – Additional docs for name/address/DoB changes
✅ Common Acceptable Documents (Examples)
- Indian Passport
- Voter ID / Driving Licence
- Birth Certificate (DoB proof)
- Bank Passbook / Statement (< 3 months)
- Utility Bills – Electricity, Water, Gas (< 3 months)
- Ration Card / PAN Card
- Govt.-issued photo ID cards
🏠 Head of Family (HoF) Rules
- HoF must have valid Aadhaar
- Biometric authentication by parent/guardian required
- Child’s address = HoF’s Aadhaar address
- For single parent/guardian: only their Aadhaar needed
🌍 Foreign Nationals / Special Categories
- OCI / Nepal / Bhutan nationals: Aadhaar valid for 10 years
- LTV / Visa holders: Valid till visa/LTV expiry
- Special certificates for children in Child Care Institutions
- Destitute persons with disabilities – joint certification required
✏️ Update Rules (List IV Highlights)
- Name change: Marriage/Divorce Certificate, Gazette Notification
- Address update: Self-declaration from HoF allowed
- Date of Birth update: Rules vary if DoB was "declared/approximate" or verified earlier
- Minor spelling/surname updates for minors via HoF + Birth Certificate

- All documents must be valid, verifiable, and in applicant’s name
- Name & DoB must match across all submitted documents
- Document copies retained for 60 days
- Special forms: HoF self-declaration, enrolment certificates (valid 3 months)
