Sub: Clarification regarding Anganwadis are state Government recognized school/Institutions – reg.

Sir/Madam,

This is regarding clarification on CEA (Children Education Allowance) being reimbursed in respect of Central Government employees whose children are admitted in Anganwadis of state of Tamilnadu. In this regard, it is requested to clarify whether Anganwadis are coming under State recognized educational institutions.

DoPT rulings on reimbursement of CEA is extracted below for your reference: “The CEA reimbursement under the Scheme may be allowed for the children studying in a recognized school/institutions. Recognized school/institution means a Government school or any educational institution whether in receipt of Govt. aid or not, recognized by the Central or State Government or Union Territory Administration or by University or a recognized educational authority having jurisdiction over the area where the institution/school is situated”.

Hence, in light of above, it is requested to give clarity on whether Anganwadis (being part of ICDS Scheme) fall under the purview of recognized educational institution.
