Revision of Ceiling Rate & Guidelines for Reimbursement of Hearing Aids

📌 Key update: Maximum reimbursement ₹30,000/- per ear (inclusive of GST) for Standard Digital Programmable & Rechargeable Hearing Aids. 3-year comprehensive warranty included.

📋 Revised Reimbursement Ceiling

Standard Digital Programmable & Rechargeable Hearing Aid (Digital BTE & Digital ITC/CIC) ₹30,000/- per ear (actual or ceiling, whichever is lower)
Bilateral Fitting (clinically justified) Up to ₹60,000/- (subject to actual expenditure)
  • Ceiling inclusive of GST & all other applicable taxes
  • Complete usable package + 3-year comprehensive warranty included
  • ✖ No separate reimbursement for GST, standard charger, fitting, programming, verification, counselling or routine maintenance
  • ✖ Body‑worn/pocket type and analogue BTE hearing aids remain excluded

Power source Rechargeable (standard charger mandatory within package)
Warranty Minimum 3‑year comprehensive warranty on device & charger

Note: Optional premium features (wireless streaming, app‑based) do not entitle additional reimbursement.

📌 Eligibility & Step‑by‑Step Process
  1. Referral – Medical Officer of CGHS Wellness Centre refers to ENT Specialist
  2. Prescription – ENT Specialist recommends based on audiometric/audiological assessment (brand‑neutral)
  3. Permission –
    • CGHS Pensioners: Additional Director of CGHS city
    • Serving Employees / Autonomous Bodies: Head of Department/Office
  4. Undertaking (Annexure‑II) – declaration that no hearing aid reimbursement claimed in preceding 5 years
📄 Documents Required for Reimbursement
  • Referral letter from CGHS Wellness Centre
  • ENT Consultant's prescription + authenticated Audiogram Report
  • CGHS Card copy
  • Original Bill/Tax Invoice (seller details, RCI/MCI registration, serial number, GST)
  • Original Permission Letter
  • Empty box/carton with original label
  • Documentary evidence of minimum specification compliance + fitting/programming record
  • 3‑year comprehensive warranty certificate
🔄 Replacement & Maintenance
Replacement: permitted only after 5 years from date of purchase/reimbursement
Condemnation certificate: not required after 5‑year period
Post‑warranty: maintenance, batteries & consumables are beneficiary's responsibility

✅ Hearing aid clinically prescribed by competent ENT Specialist

✅ No reimbursement claimed for hearing aid in preceding 5 years

✅ Purchase conforms to minimum functional specifications

✅ Accepts ceiling of ₹30,000/- per ear (inclusive of GST)

✅ No duplicate reimbursement claimed from any other source

✅ Documents submitted are genuine
