Subject: Acute slowness in McCamish software – Adverse impact on CPC functioning – Request for temporary suspension of PLI/RPLI Melas for three months

PLI/RPLI Melas – Additional Burden

• Conducting PLI/RPLI Melas (insurance business drives) adds to the workload when staff are already struggling.
• While business expansion is important, technical capacity and manpower are insufficient to process new business.
• CPC staff face pressure to clear existing pendency, process new business, manage delays, and handle public grievances simultaneously.

Union’s Request

• Temporary suspension of PLI/RPLI Melas for three months across the Circle.

This would allow CPCs to:

• Focus on clearing existing pendency.
• Process already procured business.
• Stabilize operations.
• Prepare for smoother migration to IMS.
• Provide relief to stressed employees.

Closing Appeal

• The request is not against business development but a temporary operational measure.
• Once technical issues are resolved and pendency reduced, Melas can resume.
• The Union urges the Chief Postmaster General to issue instructions to Divisional Heads to suspend Melas temporarily.
• A sympathetic intervention will reduce employee stress, improve CPC functioning, and ensure a smooth transition to IMS.
