Most of the Post Offices all over India have been migrated to the Sify Network and most of them migrated to the CBS and McCamish. CBS and McCamish are two major Softwares in the Post Offices to handle the Savings Bank and Postal Insurance. In view of the above, Network is the backbone of the Technology implementation such as FSI and CSI. To effective use of Network connectivity, many instructions were received from the service provider/vendors M/s TCS to minimize the utilization of bandwidth for Antivirus updation, Windows updation and other software updations.
The proposal Submitted for bandwidth upgradation by the DOP to Sify technologies and the same has been communicated to the concerned Network Provider of NSP1 i.e BSNL for implementing the same. In most of the places minimum bandwidth of NSP1 connectivity has been raised to the 512kbps as per Directorate instructions.
Even though the bandwidth of the Network is upgraded, the connectivity is getting slow due to more consumption of the data for updating Symantec antivirus definition. So that the GUP has been introduced in DOP to minimize the utilization for AV updation.
Follow the below instruction to install / Configure GUP
GUP - Group Update Provider that the designate for locally distribute the content of AV updates to the Clint PCs. Please follow the instruction and configure the GUP for Post Offices having more than 10 PCs or as instructed by TCS/ Directorate / CO/ RO.
