Current System:
- Multiple GST registrations exist within a single state for different functional units of India Post.
- Leads to compliance complexity, administrative burden, and duplication of efforts.
Proposed Model:
- Single GSTIN per State/UT for all postal units under a unified registration.
Objectives:
- Simplify tax compliance and return filing.
- Enable centralized control and monitoring.
- Reduce administrative costs and effort.
Challenges Identified:
- Transition hurdles (e.g., merging existing registrations).
- IT system realignment.
- Inter-unit coordination.
