Subject: Proposal for "One State One GST Registration" in the Department of Posts – Request for Comments/Inputs

Current System:

  • Multiple GST registrations exist within a single state for different functional units of India Post.
  • Leads to compliance complexity, administrative burden, and duplication of efforts.

Proposed Model:

  • Single GSTIN per State/UT for all postal units under a unified registration.

Objectives:

  • Simplify tax compliance and return filing.
  • Enable centralized control and monitoring.
  • Reduce administrative costs and effort.

Challenges Identified:

  • Transition hurdles (e.g., merging existing registrations).
  • IT system realignment.
  • Inter-unit coordination.
