The Chief Postmaster General,
Tamilnadu Circle, Chennai 600 002.
Respected Madam,
Subject: Request to Address Issues Arising from Deployment of New Patch in McCamish Software -reg.
This is to bring to the kind attention of Chief PMG a pressing issue arising from the recent deployment of a new patch in the McCamish software. The patch, which has been enabled to automatically collect GST for the default fee applicable to the period from 2017 to 2023, has resulted in considerable challenges at the counters.
Previously, as per earlier directives, the GST for default fees during the aforementioned period was collected manually and duly credited. The automated collection of GST for default fees by the new patch has led to several instances of disputes and dissatisfaction among customers at the counters, creating a tense and challenging environment for the counter staff.
While the initiative to streamline GST collection is appreciated, the current functionality of the patch overlooks an important aspect: GST amounts already collected manually during this period. Without factoring in the GST already credited, the patch could result in duplicate GST collection, creating unnecessary disputes and dissatisfaction among customers.
Additionally, the patch lacks the capability to list out the details of the default fees for which GST is being levied. This limitation makes it challenging to address customer queries and ensure transparency.
To mitigate these issues, we request the following:
- The patch should be modified to recognize and exclude the GST amounts already collected manually for the period from 2017 to 2023.
- A feature should be included to generate detailed reports listing the default fees along with the GST levied on each.
These quarrels and confrontations are causing undue stress for the staff and delays in service delivery. To mitigate this issue and ensure smooth functioning at the counters, we kindly request our Chief PMG to take up this matter with the Directorate for a prompt resolution, such as a review or modification of the current system, would be highly appreciated.
We trust that your esteemed office will intervene and expedite a solution to restore normalcy and enhance customer satisfaction.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
S. SUDLESSH KLIMAR
