Subject: Suspension of Postal Services to Canada due to Nationwide Strike by Canada Post – regarding.

The undersigned is directed to inform that the designated operator of Canada, has officially informed that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has launched a nationwide strike with effect from 25 September 2025, following a Government announcement on Canada Post’s transformation. During the strike period, there will be no movement of mail within Canada, and international items received on/after 25 September 2025 will be held in secure facilities without processing or transmission of scans. Upon resumption, the held items will be processed and delivered on a first-in, first-out basis, though delays are expected due to backlog.

Further, it has also been intimated that airlines are not accepting mail destined for Canada in view of the prevailing strike situation.

In view of the above, the competent authority has decided to suspend the booking of all categories of mail to Canada with immediate effect. Further, mail items already booked for Canada will face delays due to the prevailing circumstances. This suspension will remain in force until further communication is received from Canada Post regarding the resumption of services.
