Instructions regarding Immediate Intimation of Surrender Premature Claims of PLI Policies to Non-Postal PAOs

With reference to the above, it is stated that Army personnels of the Guards regiment avails of Postal life Insurance (PLI), accordingly the recovery of monthly premium against their PLI policies from their pay and allowances is carried out by this office and remitted to the PLI Directorate on a monthly basis. The recovery continues till the maturity date of the policy.

In certain cases, individuals surrender their PLI policies before the maturity date by intimating the concerned Post office directly without any intimation to this office for stoppage of recovery of policy premium. However, the intimation of surrender of policies is often received by this office after considerable delay, or no intimation is received at all. Due to this delay or non-receipt of information, recovery of the monthly PLI premium continues from their IRLA which leads to excess-recovery of premium and subsequent refund adjustment & unnecessary correspondence.

It is, therefore requested that this office may be intimated immediately by the fastest means possible whenever any Army personnel of this Regiment surrenders his PLI policy, so that further recovery of PLI premium from pay can be stopped promptly and discrepancies may be avoided.
