1. Overview

Issuing Authority: Additional Directorate General, Army Postal Service (APS), Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army).

Subject: Invitation for applications from Department of Posts (DoP) employees for enrolment into the Army Postal Service.

Enrolment Cycle: May 2026.

Objective: To recruit Postal Assistants (PAs) and Sorting Assistants (SAs) from the civil postal department into the APS.
2. Eligibility Criteria

Post/Cadre: Only Postal Assistants (PAs) and Sorting Assistants (SAs) are eligible.

Exclusions: Applications from IPs, LSGs, PMMG, and MTS will not be accepted for this cycle.

Age & Health: Applicants must be below 40 years of age and meet the medical category SHAPE-1.

Service Status: Must be a regular employee holding a lien on a permanent post in DoP.
3. Important Dates & Process Flow
The enrolment follows a strict multi-stage process with clear cut-off dates:

Key Procedural Notes:

Applications must be routed through Divisional Heads. Direct applications to APS will not be entertained.

Incomplete applications or those without the Divisional Head's recommendation will be rejected.

Promotions in the civil department after applying to APS will not grant equivalent Army rank at enrolment but will be considered post-training.
4. Application Form (Annexure I) Breakdown
The form has four parts to be filled by different authorities:

Part I & II (Volunteer): Personal details, service particulars, declaration of terms & conditions, and a declaration regarding plural marriages.

Part III (Divisional Officer/Gazetted Superior): Recommendation certifying good service record, sound physique, and clean disciplinary record.

Part IV (Divisional Head): Certificate confirming the applicant is a regular employee with a lien, eligible for repatriation to DoP if found unfit in APS.

Copy of first page of Service Book.

Copy of last month's pay slip.

Certificate from Divisional Head (as per Annexure II), identical to Part IV.
5. Key Benefits & Advantages of Joining APS
Upon induction as a Warrant Officer (WO), equivalent to PA/SA, volunteers are entitled to:

| Medical | Completely free medical facilities for self, spouse, children, and dependents (OPD, IPD, surgery, medicines). |
| Education | Admission quotas in prestigious Army institutes (engineering, medical, dental, management, law, etc.) and scholarships for wards. |
| Foreign Posting | Opportunity for postings in UN Missions (e.g., Lebanon, Congo) or Bhutan, with substantial additional monthly allowances (approx. ₹84,138 to ₹1,31,808). |
| Other Perks | Uniform allowance, transfer grants, hardship allowance, access to Army sports teams, eligibility for Army housing (AWHO), and choice posting in DoP upon repatriation. |
