GDS Paid Leave Rules: Accumulation Without Encashment (India Post Guidelines)

Accumulation of Paid Leave Without Encashment Facilities for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) 

  • GDS are granted paid leave at the rate of 20 days per year (10 days for every half year). 10 days of leave credited on 1st January and 1st July.
  • GDS can accumulate unavailed paid leave up to a maximum of 45 days.
  • Fractions of a day will be rounded off: 0.5 or above taken as one day of leave;
  • less than 0.5 ignored.
  • If not availed, paid leave beyond 45 days lapses at the end of every half-year.
  • Accumulated leave cannot be encashed; it will lapse upon discharge or cessation of engagement.
  • Accumulated leave can be availed in parts.
  • Maternity leave or any other kind of leave (except Emergency Leave) can be combined with the paid leave, as per approval and provided it does not exceed the 45-day maximum limit.
