The Department of Posts has issued a circular dated 29 December 2025 requesting comments from Circle offices regarding the continued use of official stamps and seals. A catalogue of 107 impressions, currently produced under contract by PSICS Aligarh, has been circulated for review.

With the upcoming rollout of APT 2.0, the competent authority emphasizes the need to identify which stamps and seals remain relevant in the modern integrated system and which have become obsolete. Circle offices are directed to examine the enclosed catalogue and provide their assessment in the prescribed format, indicating:
  • Catalogue number
  • Name of stamp
  • Purpose
  • Whether it should continue in use
  • Justification for continuance after APT 2.0
  • Remarks
The deadline for submission of comments is 1 January 2026.

Conclusion
This circular underscores the importance of streamlining official instruments in line with modernization efforts under APT 2.0. By carefully reviewing and justifying the continued use of essential stamps and seals, Circle offices will contribute to a more efficient, integrated postal system. Timely submission of comments will ensure smooth transition and contract decisions before the expiry of the current arrangement in June 2026.
