India Post OTP Based Parcel Booking – Exempted Categories List & Default Validation Process 2026

Respected Sir / Madam,

As per the instructions of the Parcel Directorate, OTP validation has been implemented for retail booking of all Parcel products

For exemption categories, the Counter PA may select the checkbox “I confirm that the customer comes under the exempted category for OTP validation” and proceed further as per the on-screen information message. In such cases, for the default mobile number 1234567890, please enter the default OTP 123456 and click Verify.

Eligibility criteria for exemption

• President of India / Vice-President / Prime Minister of India
• Council of Ministers, Governors, Lt. Governors & Administrators, Chief Ministers, Judges of Supreme Court, Chiefs of Armed Forces, Members of Parliament, MLAs/MLCs
• Central Government
• Defence Services
• Para Military Forces
• State Government
• Judicial / Quasi-Judicial bodies in India
• Law Enforcement Agencies
• Local Bodies
• Government-aided Educational Institutions
• Reserve Bank of India
• Public Sector Undertakings
• Nationalized Banks
• Private educational institutions / schools / colleges affiliated to recognized Boards (recognized by Centre/State Government) of Secondary/Senior Secondary education i.e. CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, Open School, etc.
• Deemed Universities and educational institutes accredited by recognized bodies such as National Assessment and Accreditation Council, All India Council of Technical Education, Medical Council of India etc.
• Credit Co-operative Societies and other Co-operative Societies registered with the Government under the Co-operative Societies Act and partly or fully funded from the Central/State Government/RBI/SBI/Nationalized Banks/NABARD and other such institutions notified by the Government
• All scheduled Commercial Banks / RRBs
• Govt / Private Hospitals

Respected Ma’am/Sir,

This is regarding OTP based booking functionality being introduced by CEPT under APT for parcel category.

2. Some references have been received at this office regarding exemption categories for OTP based booking which is presently not displayed in the booking module. It is clarified that till the time eligibility criteria is displayed in the booking module under APT 2.0, a list of categories for which OTP is exempted has been attached with this email.

3. It is requested that the attached list may be disseminated to all the booking offices till the time functionality of displaying the exempted category is built under APT.
