Sir/Madam,

I am directed to forward herewith an OM No. Y-11020/15/2026-NA dated 20.05.2026, has been received from the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment on the subject mentioned above.

The National Awards for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is a prestigious civilian honour conferred by the Government of India every year on 3rd December, which is observed as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. These awards aim to recognize and promote outstanding achievements by Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and institutions/organizations working for their empowerment.

The guidelines for National Awards 2026 are available on the Department's website www.depwd.gov.in and the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal www.awards.gov.in. The portal will be open for submission of applications/nominations from 15th May 2026 to 31st July 2026. Only nominations received during this period will be considered.

In view of the above, all the addressees are requested to identify and nominate PwD employees with exceptional achievements and upload their details on the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal by 31st July, 2026.

Subject: National Awards for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, 2026 - reg.

The National Awards for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is one of the prestigious civilian recognitions conferred by the Government of India to recognize exceptional achievements of Divyangjan in various fields and institutions contributing to the empowerment of persons with disabilities. Instituted to highlight the achievements and promote the mainstreaming of persons with disabilities, these prestigious awards are presented every year on 3rd December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The Guidelines for the National Awards 2026 are available on the Department's website (www.depwd.gov.in) and on the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal (www.awards.gov.in). The applications/nominations are being accepted exclusively through online mode on the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal. The online nominations commenced on 15th May 2026 and will remain open until 31st July 2026. Nominations/recommendations received during this period alone will be considered.

All Ministries/Departments are requested to ensure wide dissemination of information regarding these awards amongst the organizations/Institutions under their administrative control so as to encourage deserving individuals and institutions to participate.
