Subject: Phase-I Rollout of Trend Micro Endpoint Protection at Field Locations under the IT Modernization Project (DoP IT 2.0) – reg.

Sir/Madam,
I am directed to refer to the subject cited above and to convey the approval of the Competent Authority for the commencement of Phase-I rollout of the Trend Micro Endpoint Protection in Punjab Circle and Tamil Nadu Circle with effect from 21.07.2026.

In preparation for the rollout, workshops on security aspects in the Advanced Postal Technology (APT), including implementation of the Trend Micro Endpoint Protection, were conducted at CEPT, Mysuru on 15.05.2026 and 22.05.2026. During these workshops, CEPT and M/s HPE provided walkthroughs to Master Trainers/System Administrators from all Postal Circles, PAOs, and Training Centres. Further, a Proof of Concept (PoC) for the proposed solution was successfully conducted at Bengaluru GPO and Anna Road HPO, Chennai.

CEPT has nominated the following officers for technical coordination and handholding support during the rollout:
(i) Sh. A. Shanmugam – Team Lead
(ii) Sh. M. Santhosh (Mobile No: 9445763618)
(iii) Sh. G. Sreedhar (Mobile No: 9347608947)

PMU Division has also nominated the following team for coordination with the respective Circles, CEPT, and HPE for monitoring rollout progress and resolution of implementation issues:
(i) Sh. Amit Kumar, IP – Tamil Nadu Circle (Mobile No: 7839174606)
(ii) Sh. Sunny Kathuria, IP – Punjab Circle (Mobile No: 99998 23437)

The rollout shall be undertaken in coordination with CEPT and M/s HPE in accordance with the enclosed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). In this regard, the following actions may kindly be ensured:

i. Nominate a Circle Nodal Officer/SPOC for coordinating the rollout activities and share the details with this office and CEPT immediately.

ii. Complete endpoint inventory validation and compatibility assessment in accordance with the enclosed SOP before commencement of deployment.

iii. Coordinate for the removal of the existing antivirus solution and deployment of TM EPP in accordance with the prescribed procedure.

iv. Ensure deployment is carried out in a planned manner. Rollout at major offices is preferably undertaken on Saturdays/Sundays and other non-peak hours to minimize disruption to postal operations.

v. Ensure configuration of Group Update Providers (GUPs), wherever applicable, as per the SOP to optimize WAN/MPLS bandwidth utilization.

vi. Promptly report implementation issues, if any, through the Support Desk under APT and CEPT Team.

vii. Submit daily progress reports during the rollout period to the Technology Division and CEPT, indicating:

The Phase-I rollout shall be completed within two weeks, with the target date of completion as 03.08.2026. The experience gained during Phase-I rollout will be utilized for its further implementation at the remaining circles. Therefore, timely implementation at your Circle is requested.
