1. Background

Symantec has declared Version 12x as End-of-Life (EOL), meaning it will no longer receive virus definition updates or security patches. To ensure continued protection, all systems running Symantec AV 12x must be upgraded to Version 14x.

This document provides step-by-step instructions for upgrading Symantec Antivirus from 12x to 14x on different Windows operating systems (Windows 7, 8, and 10 – both 32-bit and 64-bit).

3. Upgrade Instructions

For Windows 7 (32-bit)

• Download Upgrade32bit.zip and extract the files.
• Install Win7Service Pack (if applicable).
• Install MicrosoftPatch (required updates).
• Run SymantecSetup.exe to install Symantec 14x.
• Run LiveUpdate to fetch the latest virus definitions.
• Restart the system.

For Windows 8 & 10 (32-bit)

• Download Upgrade32bit.zip and extract the files.
• Run SymantecSetup.exe to install Symantec 14x.
• Run LiveUpdate to fetch the latest virus definitions.
• Restart the system if prompted.

For Windows 7 (64-bit)

• Download Upgrade64bit.zip and extract the files.
