Dhai Akhar National Letter Writing Campaign - last date for submissions now extended to 31 January 2026

As you are aware, the Dhai Akhar National Letter Writing Campaign is one of India Post’s flagship initiatives to promote the art of letter writing among citizens, especially students. Despite good initial responses, the participation numbers recorded so far for the current cycle remain significantly below expected levels across most Circles.

With the last date for submissions now extended to 31 January 2026, there is an immediate opportunity to energize outreach efforts and substantially improve overall participation. In this regard, all Circles are requested to implement the following quick, practical, and high-impact measures with immediate effect.

a. Rapid School Re-Activation (for PRIs)

  • Send a one-page reminder to all schools with the 31 January 2026 deadline.
  • Call last year’s participating schools and identify new nearby schools to run the activity.
  • Request each school to conduct a 40-minute “Dhai Akhar Hour” during assembly/last period and show the campaign presentation.
  • Ask schools to submit all entries together in one envelope to the nearest Post Office or Mail Overseer.
  • Prioritise KV, JNV, Army Public Schools and State Govt Schools for faster uptake.

b. Circle-Level Recognition

  • Announce Circle Appreciation Certificates for top-performing schools.
  • Post selected entries and participation photos on Circle/Division social media to build local momentum.

c. Mobilising Field Staff & Community Networks

  • Instruct Postmen, GDS and Mail Overseers to promote Dhai Akhar during beats - schools, tuition centres, etc. and put posters there.
  • Display posters at all Post Offices, especially in student-heavy areas.

d. Local Publicity Push

  • Share short reminders with local newspapers, FM radio, community groups and school networks.
  • Encourage Division seniors to send WhatsApp-friendly posters to parent groups and other groups.

e. Monitoring & Rapid Reporting

  • Divisions to send weekly participation updates to Circle Offices.
  • Circles to submit a weekly consolidated report to the Directorate to enable timely interventions.

Dhai Akhar Guidelines

  • A standardised digital Social Media Guidelines has been shared previously. Ensure its adoption by all Post Offices for consistency and ease of dissemination.
  • With coordinated and swift action, we can ensure that participation reaches its full potential during the extended period. You are requested to treat this matter as urgent and ensure that the measures outlined above are implemented across all Divisions without delay.
