PO & RMS Accountant Examination Notification (M.P. Circle)

1. Notification Details

• Issued by: Department of Posts, India – Office of the Chief Postmaster General, M.P. Circle, Bhopal

• Date of Issue: 06.01.2026
• Subject: Post Offices and RMS Accountant Examination for the year 2025 & 2026 (combined)
• Exam Date: 22.02.2026 (Sunday)

Examination Schedules

4. Eligibility Conditions

• As per Rule 273 of Postal Manual Volume-IV:
• Postal Assistants / Sorting Assistants with minimum 3 years continuous service as of last date of application.
• Must be permanent or quasi-permanent before the date.
• Must have a consistently good service record for the preceding 3 years.
• Not Eligible:

• PA (SBCO), PA (CO/RO), LSG officials (as per Directorate letter No. 8-1/2016-SPB-II dated 19.02.2019).

5. Special Instructions

• If vacancies are Nil in a Division:
• Exam will be held for Circle, but officials of that Division cannot appear.
• If no qualified officials are available, exam will be held for a single token vacancy.
• Divisional Heads must:
• Verify vacancy position and eligibility before permitting candidates.
• Circulate notification among all eligible officials (including those on leave/deputation/training).
• Applications must be submitted in Annexure-I (prescribed proforma) by 23.01.2026.
• Two passport-size photographs required:
• One affixed on application (attested).
• One retained at Division/Unit for Hall Permit.
• Circle Office will issue Roll Numbers and Hall Permits by 20.02.2026.

6. Exemption Rules

• Candidates securing ≥60% marks in a paper will be exempted from reappearing in that paper for the next two subsequent examinations.
• Cases of exemption regulated by Directorate instructions (Letter No. 9-2/89-SPB-II dated 17.01.1990).

10. Exemptions obtained (with CO letter details)
11. Chances availed before APS deputation
12. Chances availed after APS return
13. Current chance (1st/2nd/3rd/4th)

Declarations:

• Candidate’s signature with date & place.
• Head of Division/Unit must certify correctness and recommend eligibility.

8. Pattern of Examination (Annexure-II)

• Two Papers (with Books) – 100 marks each.
• Composition:
• 1/3rd Theoretical (30 marks)
• 2/3rd Practical (70 marks)
• Qualifying Marks:

• OC: 45% per paper, 50% aggregate
• SC/ST: 38% per paper, 43% aggregate

• Postal Manual Vol II (Chapters IV, V, VII, VIII, IX, X, XII)
• Schedule of Financial Powers of Department of Posts
• Core System Integration Manual (SAP – Finance & Accounts, HR Payroll)

Part II:

• Postal Manual Vol VI (Parts I, II, VII, XII, XVI, XVII)
• Postal Manual Vol VI Part II (MOS, IPOS, BPOS)
• Overtime Allowance, Medical Reimbursement, CGHS, HBA, LTC, Group Insurance Scheme
• Procurement of Goods & Services (GFR, Handbook on GeM)
