The Directorate of Postal Life Insurance has announced bonus rates for the 2026–27 financial year via Gazette Notification No. 12 dated January 16, 2026. Effective from April 1, 2026, the rates are:
- Whole Life Assurance: ₹76 per ₹1,000 sum assured
- Endowment Assurance (including Joint Life & Children Policies): ₹52 per ₹1,000
- Anticipated Endowment Assurance: ₹48 per ₹1,000
- Convertible Whole Life Assurance: Whole Life rate applies initially; switches to Endowment rate upon conversion
Terminal Bonus: ₹20 per ₹10,000 sum assured, maximum ₹1,000 for policies with a term of 20+ years
The bonus calculation rounds fractions of 50 paise or more to the next rupee. These interim rates are based on the actuarial valuation as of March 31, 2025, and will apply to all claims until the next valuation.
