Is Govt Planning to Scrap CGHS Facilities for Central Government Employees

Subject: Regarding representation dated 18.01.2026 on continuation of CGHS

Sir,

I am directed to inform you that, as per information available in the Ministry, there is no proposal under consideration to discontinue or replace CGHS with any insurance-based model. Nor has any decision been taken to cease or curtail its functioning.

It is further informed that “Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima” has been launched by The New India Assurance Company Limited for Central Government employees, in addition to the existing CGHS framework.
