Post Office (Fifth Amendment) Regulations, 2026: Correction Slip and Revised Speed Post Tariffs

🔴 Key Highlights

• The Post Office (Fifth Amendment) Regulations, 2026 came into force from 01 August 2026.
• The definition of “Document” has been expanded/clarified to cover several banking, government and personal-document items.
• Rakhi and greeting card packages up to 500 grams can fall under the document category, subject to the prescribed conditions.
• Merchandise and commercial items are excluded from the document category.
• Items not covered by the revised definition will be treated as parcels.
• Separate tariff tables have been prescribed for 24 Speed Post and 48 Speed Post, covering both retail and contractual bulk customers.
• The correction slip is issued under F. No. 39-09/2019-D, signed by Pradeep Kumar, Deputy Director General (MO).
