Update on Rakhi Booking

It is learnt that inspite of multiple instructions and required amendments in PO regulations, the item containing goods, namely Rakhi , is being wrongly booked and sent as Registered letter mail.

This not only results in loss to the Government exchequer but is also not compliant with the UPU convention regulation.

Moreover, the Rakhi shipment (which is treated as item containing goods or merchandise) booked as Registered Letter mail may be returned by destination posts or seized/detained by destination customs with possible fines/penalties imposed. Similarly rakhi shipment can also not be sent in Ordinary Post.

In this regard, it is strongly recommended to book international Rakhi shipment only as ITPS (for standard service) or as EMS (for express service).

Kindly circulate this message among all DoP staff and in all groups.
