Preparatory Steps for Rationalization and Merger of Postal Administrative Units

Dear CPMG,

Kindly refer to this office letter of even number dated 17.07.2026 regarding the comprehensive review and rationalization of administrative units across Postal Circles, with a view to enhance administrative efficiency, business development and revenue generation.

The proposals of the circle were discussed during the meeting held with HoCs between 04.08.2026 to 07.08.2026. The proposals for creation/merger of Regions/Divisions/Sub-Divisions received from your Circle, are presently under consideration at this office.

In order to ensure smooth and time-bound implementation of the creation of Region/Division/Sub-Division, it is essential that the Circle undertakes the requisite preparatory exercise in advance.

It is, therefore, requested to initiate the following preparatory steps at the earliest, without waiting for formal orders:

I. Assessment/Preparatory work for the accommodation, logistics and manpower placement required for the new/merged units; II. Assessment/Preparatory work for infrastructure/computer etc. III. Manpower redeployment plan.

As this is a dashboard items and to avoid any delay on receipt of approval from the Directorate above activities should be completed at earliest, so that implementation can commence immediately upon issue of orders, without any further delay.

Further, in order to access existing manpower deployment in the Circle for STS/JTS/Gr.B/ASP/IP, submit the details of the staff strength as per the attached template of the existing administrative units at present (not the proposed ones) by 21.09.2026.
