Subject: Clarification regarding entitlement of reimbursement of Briefcase/Officer Bag/Ladies Purse - reg.

Sir,

I am directed to refer to your letter No.STY/2-93/2023 dated 22/30.07.2026 on the subject cited above.

As per Directorate OM dated 23.07.2015, 04.09.2024 and dated 05.12.2024, reimbursement of Briefcase/Officer Bag/Ladies Purse is admissible to the specified eligible categories/posts/equivalent categories, subject to the conditions prescribed therein. As per combined reading of these orders all the Gazetted officers of Department of Posts and officials in the grade pay of Rs 4600, i.e., equivalent to Inspector of Posts, who are having touring nature of duties, are only eligible for the reimbursement of the briefcase/office bag/ladies purse. The condition of having touring nature of duties is, however, not applicable for Gazetted officers.

This issues with the approval of the competent authority.
