Sir/Madam,

This is with reference to the hardware specifications circulated vide office letter of even number dated 3.7.2024. In this regard it is informed that all the Head offices and Sub Post offices are to be provided with printers mentioned at SI.No.6, of the Modified Hardware Specifications for newly added Hardware as per requirement of IT 2.0 – June 2024 only (i.e Receipt and Label Printer (A6) ). A6 printers are required for printing of labels as per functional requirements.

This issues with the approval of competent authority.

6	Label and Receipt Printer (For HOs and Heavy Booking Offices)	• Purpose: Counter Operations. • Type: A6 Minimum Thermal Printer (can also print smaller sizes like A7). • Features: Continuous roll sticker printer, Bluetooth/Wireless/USB enabled. • Functionality: Prints text, barcodes, and graphics in all four directions. • Resolution: 200 dpi. • Speed: ≥ 4 inches per second (ips). • Perforation: Software-integrated perforation for tear-off at any size.
7	Label and Receipt Printer (For SOs and BOs)	• Purpose: Counter Operations. • Type: A7 Minimum Thermal Printer. • Features: Continuous roll sticker printer, Bluetooth/Wireless/USB enabled. • Functionality: Prints text, barcodes, and graphics in all four directions. • Resolution: 200 dpi. • Speed: ≥ 4 inches per second (ips). • Perforation: Software-integrated perforation for tear-off at any size.

As per the Modified Hardware Specifications for newly added hardware under IT 2.0 (June 2024), the Directorate recommends the following:

• S.No. 6 (Label and Receipt Printer - A6): To be procured only for Head Post Offices (HOs) and Heavy Booking Offices.
• S.No. 7 (Label and Receipt Printer - A7): To be procured for Sub Post Offices (SOs) and Branch Post Offices (BOs).

However, as clarified in Directorate Letter No. Tgy-48/5/2022-Tech-DOP dated 11/04/2025, S.No. 6 (A6 Printer) is now also recommended for Sub Post Offices to meet functional requirements.
