Message from the Minister – Department of Posts
July 2025 Edition
Namaskar!
India Post, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, has transformed into a modern, inclusive, and digi-tech empowered institution. With 1.64 lakh points of presence - from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Bharuch to Tawang, India Post has the world’s most extensive service network. This unmatched reach uniquely positions us to lead the global logistics revolution. We are committed to making India Post the largest logistics organisation in the world.
To realise this vision, our workforce must stay ahead of the curve embracing innovation, technology, and new ways of working. This transformation is already underway. The enactment of the Post Office Act, 2023, replacing a 125-year-old colonial law, marked a bold step toward institutional modernisation. Over 5,600 new post offices have been opened, including in remote and border regions.
India Post is now a key pillar of financial inclusion. With 36.42 crore savings accounts and ₹11,577 crore in deposits through India Post Payments Bank, we are delivering banking to the doorstep. Through Aadhaar-enabled services, ₹33,386 crore has been disbursed, and 84 lakh Digital Life Certificates issued. Our insurance portfolio has grown significantly, with 1.09 crore active Postal Life Insurance policies and a corpus of ₹1.63 lakh crore - a 246% increase since 2014.
We have become a trusted partner in implementing government schemes. 3.23 crore Sukanya Samriddhi accounts have been opened, and ₹30,000 crore disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfers. India Post also played a pivotal role in the PM Vishwakarma and PM Surya Ghar schemes, contributing to both delivery and enrolment.
In logistics, our transformation is accelerating. With 1,408 Parcel Packaging Units, 50,000+ km of delivery network, and partnerships with e-commerce giants like Amazon, India Post has emerged as a serious logistics player. Our global footprint is expanding too, with 1,013 Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras, exports worth ₹192.15 crore, and the establishment of a Universal Postal Union Regional Office in Delhi. We also launched India’s first 3D-printed post office in Bengaluru.
Our people remain at the heart of this journey. Through Rozgar Melas, 1.77 lakh youth have been recruited. Over 4.59 lakh employees have been trained via the Dak Karmayogi portal, building a future-ready postal workforce. Innovations like the Digital Address Code and geospatial mapping are setting new benchmarks in service delivery.
India Post is no longer just delivering mail - it is delivering transformation. From every village to every city, from citizen services to international trade, we are building a postal network that is fast, future-ready, and globally respected.
Sincerely yours,
Jyotiraditya M. Scindia
