Subject: Urgent Demand for Implementation of 5-Day Work Week in Post Offices to Ensure Equality and Operational Efficiency.
Respected Sir,
I am writing this to bring to your urgent notice the growing resentment among postal employees regarding the outdated 6-day work week. While the majority of Central Government sectors have transitioned to a 5-day week, the Department of Posts continues to enforce a 6-day schedule on its operational staff, which is both discriminatory and practically flawed.
I request the FNPO leadership to emphasize the following points during the next departmental meeting:
Administrative Disparity: It is highly unjust that the Administrative Offices (Mandal Karyalayas) and the staff (Babus) working there enjoy a 5-day work week, while the frontline operational staff is compelled to work on Saturdays. This lack of uniformity within the same department creates a sense of inequality and lowers the morale of the ground staff.
Operational Collapse on Saturdays: On Saturdays, while Post Offices are open for the public, the controlling Administrative Offices remain closed. This creates a massive hurdle; if an employee needs urgent administrative clearance, technical support, or any official guidance, there is no one available to assist.
