Subject:- PO & RMS Accountants Examination scheduled to be held on 08.03.2026

This is to hereby intimate that the PO & RMS Accountant examination is scheduled to be held on 08.03.2026.

The Divisional Heads are requested to call for the applications from eligible candidates and only the candidates equal to the fifteen times of vacancies based on their seniority in PA/SA Cadre on the divisional basis will be permitted to appear at the examination. Notional One vacancy may be considered in divisions where actual vacancies are NIL. All the divisional heads are requested to forward the applications equal to 15 times of vacancies, according to their seniority in PA/SA Cadre on divisional basis in one lot to Circle Office, Mumbai on or before 13.02.2026 through respective Regional Offices only.

Applications of eligible candidates from RMS Divisions under MM Region should be called for by the Asst. Postmaster General (Staff), Circle Office, Mumbai.

Wide publicity should be given including those who are on leave/deputation.

The Time Table of the Examination is as under:-

Paper-I (With Books) - 08.03.2026 (Sunday) - 10.00 A.M. to 01.00 P.M.

Paper-II (With Books) - 08.03.2026 (Sunday) - 02.00 P.M. to 05.00 P.M.

This examination is qualifying one as indicated in Directorate's memo No. 9-6/79-SPB-1 dated 25.2.1980 circulated vide Circle Office, Mumbai Memo No. R&E-10/Ord dated 04.08.1980.

(a) All PAs/SAs who have not less than 3 years continuous service including the period spent on training immediately before appointment as PA/SA on the last date fixed for the receipt of application and have been declared permanent before that date and have consistently good record of service for the preceding 3 years.

(b) The revised syllabus issued by Directorate vide letter No. X-08/2/2022-SPN-II-DOP dated 18.04.2023 has already been circulated to all vide C.O. Memo No. R&E-10/Orders-II dated 28.04.2023.

(c) As per Directorate letter No.X-08/1/2023-SPN-II-DOP dated 16.10.2023, exemptions from appearing in certain papers obtained on the basis of previous examinations held with old syllabus will be valid to the extent as per pattern of the examination.

(d) Under the revised syllabus the officials securing at least 60%60% (SIXTY PERCENT) marks in a particular paper will be exempted from appearing in that paper in the next two subsequent examinations.

(e) The number of chances admissible is THREE (3) only. If a candidate secures more than 35%35% of marks in aggregate and failed will be given one more chance to appear in this examination. This chance includes the exemption given, to any candidate, if any. However, the two chances taken by any officials while in APS will not be counted towards the maximum of prescribed number of chances.

(f) The seniority for appointment to the post of PO & RMS Accountant will be determined according to the year of passing the examination.

The qualifying standard of this examination is as under:-

TIME LIMIT

(i) Last date of receipt of application from Candidates to Division / Unit - 06.02.2026
(ii) Last date of receipt of application in Respective RO - 10.02.2026
(iii) Last date of receipt of application in Circle Office, Mumbai - 13.02.2026

Applications of all eligible candidates with the recommendation of the Division / Unit Head should be forwarded to Circle Office, Mumbai in one lot within the stipulated date through respective Regions only. If any of the candidate is not recommended or provisionally recommended, their cases should be taken up with the respective Regional Postmaster General for early decision under intimation to Circle Office, Mumbai along with reasons for provisionally recommendation or if the case is not recommended.

All Regional Postmaster General are requested to take immediate action to finalize the provisional candidature and intimate the decision to Circle Office, Mumbai by 20.02.2026 as per instructions and guidelines issued by Directorate from time to time.

Only Postal Manuals or Swamy's Compilation on FR/SR & Pension Rules which are approved by D.G. alone will be allowed to answer the Question Papers. Pamphlets, Notes, Guides or such types of material will not be allowed to answer the questions by the candidates. Similarly Electronic Calculators are not allowed to use in the Examination Hall for solving problems. These should be brought to the notice of all concerned.

All Regional Offices are requested to observe the schedule and consolidated report in Annexure II be submitted to this office. Report in excel format followed by signed copy of the same should be submitted on email rectt.mh@indirapost.gov.in on due date.

Vacancy position of those Divisions where vacancies are available is enclosed herewith in Annexure I.
