Accumulation of Paid Leave for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) – Without Encashment

Gramin Dak Sevaks are entitled to 20 days of paid leave annually, credited in two installments:
  • 10 days on 1st January
  • 10 days on 1st July
🗂 Leave Accumulation RulesUnused paid leave can be accumulated up to a maximum of 45 days.
  • Fractional leave: 0.5 day or more is rounded up to 1 full day.
  • Less than 0.5 day is ignored.
  • Any leave exceeding the 45-day cap will lapse at the end of each half-year if not availed.
💡 Usage & RestrictionsEncashment is not permitted. Accumulated leave will lapse upon discharge or cessation of engagement.
  • Leave can be availed in parts, subject to approval.
  • Maternity leave or other types of leave (excluding Emergency Leave) may be combined with paid leave, provided the total does not exceed 45 days.
