Subject: Implementation of Reservation in Promotion for PwBD Candidates in LDCE Mode for Postal Service Group 'B' (Vacancy Year 2016–17 Onwards)
The Department of Posts has issued instructions regarding the implementation of reservation in promotion for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) in the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) mode of promotion to the Postal Service Group 'B' cadre, applicable from the vacancy year 2016–17 onwards.
Key Highlights
The Department has decided to extend the benefit of reservation in promotion to eligible PwBD candidates in compliance with the DoPT Office Memorandum dated 28.12.2023.
Eligibility of PwBD candidates will be assessed based on their performance in the following LDCEs already conducted:
- 18.12.2016 – Vacancy Year 2016–17
- 29.11.2020 – Vacancy Years 2017–18, 2018, 2019 & 2020
- 04.06.2023 – Vacancy Years 2021, 2022 & 2023
A tentative list of eligible PwBD candidates has been published in:
- Annexure-I (LDCE held on 18.12.2016)
- Annexure-II (LDCE held on 29.11.2020)
The lists include details such as:
- Circle
- Candidate Name
- Roll Number
- Category
- Type of Disability
- Disability Percentage
- Eligibility for respective vacancy years.
PwBD candidates who find any discrepancy in the published information may submit objections through their respective Circle Authorities by email up to 08.07.2026 (5:30 PM).
Circle Authorities have been instructed to:
- Verify the published lists.
- Authenticate any corrections/additions.
- Submit the verified information to the Directorate by 10.07.2026.
- The Department clarified that reservation benefits for PwBD candidates relating to the 2021–2023 vacancy years (LDCE held on 04.06.2023) have already been granted. Any grievance concerning these years should be submitted separately through the concerned Circle.
- Annexure-III provides the official email IDs of all Postal Circles for submission of objections and corrections.
Overall Purpose
The communication aims to ensure that eligible PwBD candidates receive reservation benefits in promotion to Postal Service Group 'B', publish provisional eligibility lists for transparency, invite corrections from affected candidates, and direct Postal Circles to verify and forward the final authenticated information within the prescribed timelines.
