India Post Introduces India Post Parcel Last Mile (IIP SPP) Service and Revises Parcel Tariff Structure from 1 August 2026
The Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts has issued the Post Office (Sixth Amendment) Regulations, 2026 through Gazette Notification S.O. 4241(E) dated 31 July 2026. These regulations come into force from 1 August 2026 and introduce a new India Post Parcel Last Mile (IIP SPP) service while revising the tariff structure for India Post Parcel and Speed Post Parcel services.
Introduction of India Post Parcel Last Mile (IIP SPP)
A new regulation, 96A, has been inserted into the Post Office Regulations, 2024, introducing the India Post Parcel Last Mile (IIP SPP) service. This service is specifically designed for bulk and corporate customers who have entered into an agreement with the Department of Posts. Parcels can be booked either at the Delivery Office or at an identified Parcel Hub/Parcel Processing Centre for delivery within the local jurisdiction.
The service also supports value-added facilities such as:
- Proof of Delivery (POD)
- Insurance
- Cash on Delivery (COD)
- Other value-added services applicable to India Post Parcel
Postage will be calculated based on the higher of volumetric weight or gross weight, and the maximum permissible weight under the Last Mile service is 5 kilograms.
India Post Parcel Last Mile (IIP SPP) Tariff
The notification prescribes a separate tariff for the new Last Mile service:

GST will be charged as applicable.
Revised India Post Parcel Tariff
The Gazette replaces the existing tariff for India Post Parcel (Retail and Contractual) with revised rates across Local, Within State, Zone/Metro and Other States categories. Charges have been revised for all weight slabs from 500 grams to 5 kilograms, including revised rates for every additional kilogram. GST will continue to be levied separately.
Revised Speed Post Parcel Tariff
Similarly, the tariff for Speed Post Parcel has also been revised for both Retail and Contractual customers. The updated rates cover all weight slabs from 500 grams to 5 kilograms, with revised charges for Local, Within State, Zone/Metro and Other States. Additional kilogram charges have also been updated.
