LDCE Postal Service Group 'B' Revised & Recast Results 2026 – PwBD Reservation, CAT Order Implementation & Vacancy Details

The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, issued a letter (F. No. A-34013/01/2026-DE dated 06.08.2026) regarding the revised and recast results of the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for Postal Service Group 'B' following the implementation of the Hon'ble CAT Ernakulam Bench order and the extension of reservation benefits to Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBDs).

Key Highlights

1. Purpose of the Order

  • Implements the Hon'ble CAT Ernakulam Bench order dated 28.11.2025 in OA No. 194/2023.
  • Extends PwBD reservation in promotions from the vacancy year 2016-17 onwards as per DoPT guidelines.
  • Declares revised and recast LDCE PS Group 'B' results for vacancy years 2017-18 to 2023.

2. Revised Vacancy Position

The letter publishes the final year-wise vacancy position for:

  • IP Line (19%)
  • Clerical Line (6%)

The vacancies are classified under:

  • UR
  • SC
  • ST
  • Horizontal reservation for PwBD categories:
    • VH (Visual Handicap)
    • HH (Hearing Handicap)
    • OH (Orthopedic Handicap)
    • Others

The vacancy tables cover the period from 2016-17 to 2023.

3. Revision of Earlier Results

The Department states that:

  • Additional vacancies introduced for 2017-18 created a cascading effect.
  • Several candidates selected for 2017-18 also appeared in later select lists.
  • Consequently, subsequent select lists for 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021-2023 were revised by removing duplicate selections and preparing fresh merit-based lists.

4. PwBD Reservation Implementation

The Department:

  • Invited scrutiny of eligible PwBD candidate lists through the India Post website.
  • Verified objections and corrections received from Circles.
  • Applied DoPT instructions while finalizing revised results.

For the vacancy year 2016-17, one eligible VH candidate did not qualify even after applying relaxed standards; therefore, the PwBD vacancies remained unfilled and were carried forward to 2017-18 as per reservation rules.

5. Selection Methodology

Selections were finalized based on:

  • Merit in the examination.
  • Earliest year of eligibility.
  • Tie-breaking through:
    • Date of joining the feeder cadre.
    • Age (older candidate ranked higher if joining dates were identical).

6. Promotion Conditions

The Department instructed that:

  • Promotion guidelines relating to officials facing disciplinary or criminal proceedings must be followed.
  • Only eligible officials should be promoted.
  • Disability certificates of PwBD candidates must be verified strictly as per departmental instructions.

7. Other Important Instructions

  • All representations received regarding these LDCEs have been disposed of.
  • Promotions based on these results remain subject to the outcome of the pending Supreme Court case (Jarnail Singh & Others vs. Lachhmi Narain Gupta & Others).
  • The order was issued with the approval of the Secretary (Posts).
  • Seven annexures containing the revised select lists for 2017-18 to 2023 accompany the letter.

8. Distribution

The communication has been circulated to:

  • All Heads of Circles
  • Postal Directorate
  • CEPT
  • Postal Training Institutions
  • Recognized Service Associations
  • Other concerned authorities for implementation and publication on the India Post website.
