The Federation of National Postal Organisations (FNPO) has strongly objected to the proposed restructuring, shifting, and merger of RMS operational units across Circles, citing risks to service efficiency and employee welfare. The letter highlights serious concerns in Chennai Sorting Division, which already handles 18,000–19,000 parcels daily but has suffered significant manpower reductions in earlier reorganisations. FNPO warns that further cuts or mergers would undermine parcel hubs, transshipment centres, and e-commerce growth handling. Similar objections are raised regarding West Bengal Circle, where proposed relocations and mergers could disrupt smooth parcel operations, increase workload, and affect public mail transmission. FNPO demands withdrawal of these proposals until a Directorate-level review is conducted, with proper workload and manpower assessments, consultation with staff federations, and protection of employees’ interests. The organisation insists restructuring should strengthen operational capacity rather than reduce it.
