FNPO’s Demand for Restoration of Dedicated MMS Cadres

The Federation of National Postal Organisations (FNPO) has requested the Department of Posts to urgently restore separate cadres for Assistant Manager and Deputy Manager in the Mail Motor Service (MMS). The current temporary merger of these posts with the Inspector Posts (IP) and Assistant Superintendent of Posts (ASP) cadres has led to operational inefficiencies, lack of continuity, and loss of specialised expertise in fleet and fuel management. FNPO emphasizes that MMS requires dedicated officers with technical knowledge of vehicle maintenance, statutory compliance, and fuel management, which cannot be developed through short-term postings. The letter demands finalisation of Recruitment Rules, structured career progression within MMS, and filling of vacancies through promotions to ensure professional management and accountability.
