I can't log in or use Lync Online. What do I do?

Sometimes you may have an issue logging in to Lync Online.  Here are some common troubleshooting steps.  The first step should always be to verify your account in a web browser first.

Detailed:

  • Verify your account has the appropriate access and authorization to use Office 365 services, such as Lync Online or SkyDrive Pro.

  1. Browse to https://meetings.office365.gatech.edu and log in on the GT Login Service.
  2. If you do not see the GT Login Service website, clear your browser's cache and restart your browser.
  3. If you recieve a Microsoft error, your account may not be authorized to access the Office 365 services. If you believe this is in error, please contact the OIT Technology Support Center.
  4. Most general Lync Support questions may be resolved using this Microsoft resource on "Common Help Topics about Lync".

  • "You may have entered your sign-in address, user name, or password incorrectly, or the authentication service may be incompatible with this version of the program."
Verify that your Lync client is up to date and that your credentials (GPOAccount@indiapost.gov.in) are entered correctly.

"To sign in, additional software is required. Download and install now?"

  • Run Office 365 Desktop Setup accessible from the Office 365 website (https://office365.gatech.edu), or install the latest version of the Microsoft Online Services Sign-In Assistant
  • "Cannot sign in to Lync because your computer clock is not set correctly. To check your computer clock settings, open Date and Time in the Control Panel."
  • The system time or date is more than five minutes off from the time or date of the Lync server. Verify that your computer's clock is set correctly.
  • "Sign-in address was not found."
  • You may not be authorized to access Lync. Please retry the first step in this list to verify your access.
  • "The username, password or domain appears to be incorrect."
Verify that you typed your username (GPOAccount@indiapost.gov.in) and password correctly. If you manually setup your Lync (SIP) client, then verify that you typed in the server settings correctly.
