SOP for DSS Android Application

1. Introduction

For BYOD devices, the delivery staff, Departmental Postman and GDS Delivery Staff, need to install the Door Step Services (DSS) Application in their respective mobile phones in which the concerned user will be carrying out departmental operations. This SOP will guide in installation of the app in their mobile phone.

2. Pre-requisites

• Android device (Android 11 or higher)
• SFTP client (e.g., FileZilla, WinSCP, or mobile SFTP apps like PowerFTP, AndFTP, or Solid Explorer with SFTP plugin)
• SFTP credentials (host, port, username, password or private key)
• .apk file of the Android application which will be available in the SFTP folder

3. Procedure

Step 1: Connect to SFTP Server

1. Launch your SFTP client on your PC or mobile device.
2. Enter the following details in the respective fields:
   • File protocol: SFTP
   • Username: zdop_dssapp
   • Password: Apt2Dss@2025
   • DoP Public IP: 103.244.127.239
   • SFTP Port Number: 22
3. Authenticate and connect.

Step 2: Download the APK

1. Latest version of the DSS app will be available in the SFTP folder
2. Download the APK file to:
   • Your Android device directly via mobile SFTP app
   • OR
   • Your PC/laptop for manual transfer to the mobile

Step 3: Transfer APK to Android Device (if downloaded on PC)

1. Transfer through WhatsApp:
   1. The app can be shared to the mobile device via WhatsApp Desktop/ web WhatsApp from the PC where the app is downloaded.
   2. The apk file is needed to be downloaded from the WhatsApp app in the user’s mobile device.
   3. The app will be saved in WhatsApp documents folder.
2. Transfer through USB:
   1. Connect the Android device to your computer using a USB cable.
   2. Enable File Transfer (MTP) mode on the device.
   3. Copy the APK file to the Downloads or a known folder on the device.

Step 4: Enable App Installation from Unknown Sources

Required for Android 11 and above due to security policies.

1. Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > Special app access > Install unknown apps
2. Select the app (e.g., file manager or browser) from which you will launch the APK.
3. Toggle "Allow from this source" ON.

Step 5: Install the APK

1. Open file manager and locate the APK file.
2. Tap the .apk file.
3. Proceed with the installation prompts.

Step 6: Post-installation Check

1. Launch the application and verify it runs as expected.
2. Login to the application with DOP employee Id and password.
3. Check for availability of delivery module in the app.
4. Check if the version is compatible and functioning properly on Android 11 or above.
5. Report any errors, crashes, or version mismatches through Support Desk Tickets.

4. Troubleshooting

Issue	Cause	Resolution
“App not installed”	Incompatible APK or older version conflict	Uninstall previous version, clear storage
Can’t enable unknown sources	Permissions restricted by MDM/profile	Enable installation of APK from unknown sources
APK not opening	Android version compatibility issue.	Please use a mobile phone with android version 11 and up
