Subject: Enhancing usage of e-KYC facility for Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) Services – regarding.
Madam/Sir,
The Department is committed to leveraging technology for enhanced customer service and operational efficiency. In line with this vision, e-Know Your Customer (e-KYC) process for Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) operations has been already introduced in Post Office Savings Bank.
2. In this regard, during the recently concluded Business meet chaired by Hon'ble Minister of Communications (HMoC), it was specifically advised that all new POSB accounts should henceforth be opened through e-KYC mode. This directive underscores the Department's resolve to move towards a fully digitized and paperless environment for customer onboarding.
3. The introduction of the paperless e-KYC process and POSB account opening & transactions through Aadhaar Biometric Authentication, for all single type accounts, has been facilitated through SB Orders No. 01/2025, 07/2025 & 07A/2025. These orders outline the phased implementation of e-KYC, starting with the creation of Customer Information Files (CIF) and opening of single and individual type Post Office Savings Accounts (POSA) using Aadhaar-based e-KYC authentication & further, expanding to all other types of small savings schemes except SSA, in departmental Post Offices. The functionality of eKYC in BOs will be enabled with the help of CEPT shortly.
4. Hence it is requested to take all necessary measures to sensitize all field units, including Postmasters and staff, about the importance and easy accessibility of e-KYC for new POSB accounts & ensure 100% adoption of e-KYC at Post office Counters.
