    Compassionate appointment to the dependents of deceased/missing departmental officials in relaxation of normal rules of recruitment for the vacancies earmarked for the year 2022 : WB Circle

    Approval of the competent authority is hereby conveyed for Compassionate appointment to the dependents of deceased/missing departmental officials under compassionate grounds in relaxation of normal rules of recruitment in PA/SA, PM/MG and MTS/MTS trainee cadre in West Bengal Circle against the vacancies earmarked for the year 2022 as per recommendations of the Circle Relaxation Committee (CRC) in its meeting held on 01.09.2025 as detailed below :-

    2. The approval/recommendation for selection of the aforesaid candidates for appointment to departmental posts on compassionate ground is subject to the following conditions along with the other rules and regulations of the Department of the respective cadre in force :-

    (a) No material fact that would adversely affect their selection on relaxation ground is suppressed or declared wrongly by the candidates in the synopsis submitted by them.

    (b) The selection can be cancelled at any time if any error/falsification is detected in the information supplied by the applicants which has aided their selection.

    (c) If any error is detected after the candidate is appointed on relaxation ground, the appointment will be terminated thereof.

    (d) The candidates on their appointment will take care of the family members of the deceased official. A declaration to this effect is to be obtained and kept on record.

    (e) Appointment of the selected candidates is subject to satisfactory verification of the certificates/documents submitted by the applicant.

    (f) Proper verification should be made in connection with DOB, educational qualification, age, caste certificate and submission of no objection certificate by all the legal heirs of the deceased.

    (g) As regards age limit for appointment on compassionate ground, the Competent Authority has granted relaxation of upper age limit wherever found necessary as per instruction contained in DOPT's OM no. 14014/02/2012-Estt (D) dated 16.01.2013 updated on 02.08.2022.

    (h) The widows may be offered appointment on compassionate ground to MTS posts (cases considered on exemption from the requirement of possessing the minimum educational qualification prescribed in the relevant rules) provided the duties of the post can be satisfactorily performed by her without possessing such educational qualification and with the help of some on job training as per instruction contained in DOPT's OM no. 14014/02/2012-Estt (D) dated 16.01.2013 updated on 02.08.2022.

    (i) The dependent family member (except widow) not having required minimum educational qualification may be offered appointment on compassionate ground to a MTS post (as a trainee) as per approval of the HOC as well as by the Directorate for appointment in MTS trainee cadre — provided that the selected candidate has to furnish the requisite minimum educational qualification within 5 years from the date of joining to his post as per instructions laid down in the guidelines vide DOPT no. 14014/02/2012-Estt(D) dated 30.05.2013 circulated vide Dte. letter no. 37-4/2013-SPB-I/C dated 12.06.2013, failing which his/her services are liable to be terminated.

    (j) Confirmation of the applicants below the age of 45 years selected against PA/SA, PM/MG posts will be governed by the guidelines regarding typing test issued vide Postal Directorate letter No. 17-5/2020-SPG-II dated 22.03.2021, which states that :-
