1. Minor Penalties
The following penalties are considered minor disciplinary actions:

- Debarment from appearing in departmental examinations or being considered for promotion for up to three years.
- Recovery of Loss
- Recovery from Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) or Gratuity for any pecuniary loss caused to the Department.
- Withholding of TRCA Increments
- Annual increase in TRCA may be withheld, with or without cumulative effect, for a specified period not exceeding three years.
- Reduction to a Lower Stage in TRCA (Minor)
- Reduction to a lower stage in the TRCA slab for a period not exceeding three years, without cumulative effect.
2. Major Penalties
The following are major disciplinary penalties:
- Reduction to a Lower Stage in TRCA (Major)
- Reduction to a lower stage in the TRCA slab for a specified period with cumulative effect, or reduction to a lower post/category.
- Compulsory Discharge
- Compulsory discharge from engagement.
- Does not disqualify the GDS from future engagement.
- Removal
- Removal from engagement.
- Disqualifies the GDS from future engagement.
- Dismissal
- Dismissal from engagement.
- Ordinarily results in permanent disqualification from future engagement.
