Subject: Identified categories of disability for the posts of PS Group 'B', ASP and LSG/HSG-II/HSG-I -reg.

Sir/Ma'am, I am directed to refer to this office letter of even number dated 12.10.2022 vide which the PwD categories, for the posts of PS Group 'B', ASP and LSG/HSG-II/HSG-I, were notified and circulated to all the Circle/Units (copy enclosed).

Subsequently, some posts including Inspector Posts (IP) were reviewed in this Directorate by an Expert Committee, and revised categories were notified vide this office letter dated 25.08.2025.

In this regard, attention is invited to Note 4 of DEPwD Notification No. 38-16/2020-DD-III dated 04.01.2021, which stipulates that if a post is identified in the feeder grade, all posts in the promotional grade shall also stand identified. Accordingly, since Assistant Superintendent of Posts (ASP) is the promotional post of Inspector Posts (IP), the identified categories for IP shall extend to the ASP cadre.

The revised identification of PwBD categories for the post of ASP is as under:

• ASP – Physical Requirement: S, ST, W, RW, SE, C and H. Categories suitable for jobs: a. Low Vision (LV), Blind (B) b. Deaf (D), Hard of hearing (HH) c. One Arm (OA), One Leg (OL), One Arm and One Leg (OAL), Both Legs affected but not Arms, Muscular weakness and limited physical endurance (MW), Cerebral Palsy (CP), Leprosy Cured (LC), Dwarfism (Dw), Acid Attack Victim (AAV) d. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (M), Intellectual Disability (ID), Specific learning disability (SLD), Mental Illness (MI) e. Multiple disabilities from amongst disabilities mentioned above.
• In respect of PS Group 'B' and LSG/HSG-II/HSG-I posts, the identified categories shall continue as notified vide this office letter dated 12.10.2022, with no change (copy enclosed).
• This issues with the approval of Competent Authority.
