Office Memorandum Subject: Cadre Structure of Group 'A' posts of Mail Motor Service (MMS) in Department of Posts.

In accordance with the recommendations of DoP&T (OM No. I-11011/06/2024-CRD dated 16th June 2026) and approval of the Hon’ble Finance Minister (DoE ID Note No. 2(32)/E.III Desk/2026 dated 08.10.2026), the revised structure of Group ‘A’ posts of Mail Motor Service (MMS) is approved as follows:

Initially three posts may be considered; the fourth may be added after an eligible officer is available in L-11.

Conditions:

• Recruitment should not be clubbed; a proper plan must be prepared.
• Future changes must follow the cadre review process.
• Recruitment Rules (RRs/SRs) to be revised immediately.
• Annual evaluation reports to be submitted to DoPT.
• Cadre review of Group B and C to be undertaken.
• Abolition of posts should not affect incumbents or efficiency.
• Minimum qualifying service for promotion must follow DoPT guidelines (OM No. AB-14017/4/2021-Estt.(RR) dated 20.09.2022).

• Postal Machine Asstt Gr-I (Level-4) – MMS, Mumbai
• Postal Machine Asstt Gr-II (Level-2) – MMS, Pune (to be abolished after retirement on 31.10.2026)
• Carpenter (Level-2) – MMS, Chennai
• Carpenter (Level-2) – MMS, Ahmedabad
