The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has reminded parents and guardians to complete the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) for children who have turned seven but have not yet updated their Aadhaar biometrics. This requirement ensures continued access to essential services such as school admissions, entrance exams, scholarships, and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes.
Key Highlights:
✅ Free Update Between Ages 5-7 – A child’s first MBU (including fingerprints, iris scan, and photo) must be done by age 5. If completed between 5-7 years, the update is free of cost.
⚠ Fee After Age 7 – If the update is delayed beyond seven years, a nominal fee of ₹100 applies.
🔔 SMS Alerts – UIDAI is sending reminders to registered mobile numbers to prompt timely updates.
🚨 Risk of Deactivation – Aadhaar may be deactivated if MBU remains incomplete after age 7.
Why Update Early?
- Ensures smooth access to education and government benefits.
- Maintains accuracy and reliability of biometric data.
- Avoids last-minute hassles for school admissions and exams.
How to Update?
- Visit any Aadhaar Seva Kendra or designated center with your child to complete the process.
