This is the official circular referenced
File No.: 116-53/2018-SB
Issuing Authority: Government of India, Ministry of Communication, Department of Post (FS Division)
Date: March 07, 2019
Subject: Regarding correction of wrong entries made in respect of various accounts.
Summary of Content:
Background: The circular addresses numerous complaints about incorrect back-dated entries made in the Finacle system (the core banking solution), either during migration or other operations.
Reiterated Procedure for Correction: The existing rules for correcting wrong entries are reiterated as follows:
- Corrections < 30 days: Can be done at the Post Office (PO) level after making the necessary error entry.
- Corrections > 30 days: Circles must approach CEPT with approval from the Head of Circle (HOC). CEPT will then seek permission from the Directorate to open a back-dated transaction window and monitor the changes.
- Interest Adjustment: As per SB Order 14/2015, Circles/Divisions can instruct the SBCO Supervisor to make correction entries for interest adjustment via the HIARM menu.
Key Connection: The instruction in the WhatsApp Image (Document 1) to "relax the backpast [presumably back-past or past] prescribed" refers to overriding the timeline rules laid out in this 2019 circular (Document 2) specifically for the "value date parameter."
