DOP Directorate Clarification in r/o "24 Speed Post" | File No. Mail-30/41/2023-D-DOP(Pt.) dated 19/01/2026

1. Clarifies Service Days: Delivery for "24 SPEED POST" is available on Sundays and holidays, excluding the three national holidays: Republic Day, Independence Day, and Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.
2. Confirms Processing Rules: For Return to Sender (RTS) items, the bagging, processing, and sorting pattern for "24 SPEED POST" will remain the same as normal Speed Post.
3. Formal Government Directive: The document is an official clarification issued by the Department of Posts' Mail Operations Division, continuing from a previous order, and is addressed to the heads of six major postal circles.

Subject: Clarification- Introduction of new premium product "24 SPEED POST".

This is in continuation to this office letter of even number dated 19.12.2025 on the subject mentioned above.

The following clarifications in respect of “24 SPEED POST” are given as below:

(i) Delivery facility will be available on Sundays and holidays except national holidays i.e. Republic Day (26th January), Independence Day (15th August) & Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October). [2.3 of the SOP for 24 SPEED POST]

(ii) Bagging, Processing and Sorting pattern applicable for “24 SPEED POST” will be same as normal Speed Post in case of RTS.

This issues with the approval of the competent authority.
