Post Office (Sixth Amendment) Regulations 2025 – Gazette Notification S.O. 6099(E)

NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 30th December, 2025

S.O. 6099(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by section 13 of the Post Office Act, 2023 (43 of 2023), the Director General, with the prior approval of the Central Government, hereby makes the following regulations further to amend the Post Office Regulations, 2024, namely: -

1. Short title and commencement. - (1) These regulations may be called the Post Office (Sixth Amendment) Regulations, 2025.
   (2) They shall come into force on the 1st day of January, 2026.
2. In the Post Office Regulations, 2024 (hereinafter referred to as the principal regulations), in regulation 22, in clause (a), the words “small packets,” shall be omitted.
3. In the principal regulations, in regulation 107,
   (a) in sub-regulation (1), the words “small packets,” shall be omitted;
   (b) for sub-regulation (2), the following sub-regulation shall be substituted, namely: -
   ‘(2) In the international post, “parcel post” shall include international air parcels’.
4. In the principal regulations, regulation 112 shall be omitted.
5. In the principal regulations, in regulation 128, in clause (b), item (v) shall be omitted.
6. In the principal regulations, in regulation 138, in sub-regulation (1), the words “small packets,” shall be omitted.
7. In the principal regulations, regulation 143 shall be omitted.
8. In the principal regulations, in Schedule III,
   (a) in the opening portion, the figures and brackets “112 (5),” and “143(1),” shall be omitted;
   (b) in TABLE I,
   (i) in the opening portion, for the word “surface”, the words “air along with surcharge mentioned in TABLE IV” shall be substituted;
   (ii) Sl. No. 2 and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted;
   (c) TABLE III shall be omitted.
9. In the principal regulations, in Schedule IV, in TABLE VI, against serial number 1, in column (2) relating to “item”, the words “small packets,” shall be omitted.
