The Children Education Allowance (CEA) is a fixed reimbursement for central government employees to support their children's education from three classes before Class 1 up to Class 12. Following the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) to 50% in January 2024, the rates were automatically revised upward by 25%.

Note: For a Divyang child, CEA is paid at double the normal rate.
Summary of Eligibility
- Number of Children: Limited to the two eldest surviving children.
- Exceptions: It can extend to a third child if the second birth results in twins or if a sterilization operation fails.
- Educational Level: Covers nursery, LKG, UKG (three classes before Class 1) through Class 12, or the first two years of a diploma/certificate course after 10th standard.
- Age Limits: Valid up to 20 years for normal children and 22 years for Divyang children.
- Institution Type: The child must study in a recognized school or institution.
- Hostel Subsidy conditions: Admissible only if the hostel is located more than 50 km from the employee's residence.
- Claim Timing: Claims are typically submitted once a year after the completion of the financial year (from April onwards)
