Overview
The Department of Posts introduced Personalized Cheque Books (PCB) for Post Office Savings Account (POSA) holders effective 08.05.2026 to enhance security, customer convenience, and align with modern banking standards.
Key Features
- Personalized Cheque Books contain pre-printed details: account holder’s name, account number, and DoP IFSC.
- Instant Cheque Books (without personalization) continue to be available.
- Customers can choose between Instant (counter only) or Personalized (delivered free to registered address).
- Initially available via post office request; later Internet/Mobile Banking.
Application Process
- Use revised Cheque Book Request Form (Annexure-I).
- For PCB: Counter assistant verifies signature, checks mobile number linkage, minimum balance (₹500), and account status.
- New Finacle menu: CPCBR for request entry/verification.
- Maximum 10 leaves per request; charges apply beyond 10 leaves/year (₹2/leaf + GST).
Delivery & Logistics
- PCB requests collected daily, sent via SFTP to vendor Utility Forms Pvt. Ltd. (sites in Delhi & Chennai).
- Printed cheque books dispatched via Speed Post (special barcode series) from nodal post offices:
- Kalkaji Head Post Office, Delhi (for North/West/East states)
- Tambaram BPC, Chennai (for South states)
- Undelivered cheque books returned to base post office, kept for 45 days, then marked as spoiled.
Key Instructions
- KYC and address must be updated before requesting PCB.
- No new request allowed until previous PCB is printed & dispatched.
- Supervisors must verify all PCB requests before End of Day (EOD).
- Reports available in Finacle to track request status.
