Subject:Extension of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Scheme to Branch Offices (BOs) – reg.
Key Highlights
- This order is issued in continuation of the Department's letter dated 25.06.2025 regarding the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Scheme.
- The existing BYOD Scheme has been extended to BPMs, ABPMs and other eligible Branch Office delivery staff working in Branch Offices where smartphones have not been provided by IPPB or the Department. Eligible officials are permitted to use their own Android smartphones for official work, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions, device specifications and departmental guidelines.
- ₹300 towards smartphone usage.
- ₹200 towards Data/Voice/SMS charges.
The reimbursement will be credited directly by India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) into the eligible officials' IPPB Savings Accounts. The Department of Posts will not process reimbursement claims for Branch Office staff.
For the existing BYOD Scheme applicable to Departmental Post Offices/Delivery Centres, reimbursement expenditure will continue to be booked under:
Head of Account: EPO-OEHOA: 3201-02-101-01-01-13
Since reimbursement booking under the above Head of Account is currently unavailable in APT 2.0, CEPT has been requested to make the necessary provision for timely processing of BYOD reimbursement.
Postal Circles should coordinate all issues relating to reimbursement and implementation of the BYOD Scheme for Branch Office staff with IPPB and PBI Division. Existing instructions for Departmental Offices/Delivery Centres remain unchanged.
All other provisions of the Department's letter dated 25.06.2025, including eligibility conditions, reimbursement rules, minimum device specifications, reporting requirements and operational guidelines, remain unchanged until further orders.
Issued with the approval of the Competent Authority.
